Who We Are
Ian Bertie graduated from the University of Plymouth in 1997, having studied Computing and Informatics. He undertakes regular continuing professional development (CPD) and is a professional member of the British Computer Society (MBCS, Membership No. 995098195), the Chartered Institute for IT.
While professional expertise spans a broad spectrum of software development—including modern Astro architecture, Flutter mobile apps, Firebase cloud backends, and server administration—the primary focus remains on clean code, robust performance, and marketing fundamentals that work seamlessly in a web environment.
Life in Devon & Mountain Rescue
Based in Devon, Ian lives with his wife Catherine—a Construction Solicitor—and their daughter Hattie. Outside of digital development, home life is shared with two dogs, Jack and Midge, and a mixed flock of chickens and ducks.
A shared love of the great outdoors and mountaineering led to deep community involvement. Ian served for 14 years with the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team (Tavistock), spending 5 years on the committee as Treasurer, Secretary, and Chairman, alongside training and working a search dog through Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England. Over hundreds of call-outs, he helped locate missing persons in remote terrain.
This commitment to search and rescue is shared by Catherine, a serving member of the North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team and a qualified search dog handler working her dog, Jack. Ian’s mountain rescue experiences have also been featured publicly on BBC's Countrywise with Ben Fogle and BBC Radio 4's Ramblings with Clare Balding, showcasing Dartmoor in all its characteristic weather.
